2021 Weymouth Dinghy Regatta

Just been speaking to Richard Bowers ref the dinghy regatta 3^rd & 4^th July and he was a little concerned at the lack of Ospreys entered as the spaces are filing up quickly.

Burnham Week 2021

Are you ready – we are delighted to announce that today marks the opening of entries for Burnham Week 2021. We know you are wanting to join Burnham Week again and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you all - previous and new competitors alike - to Burnham Week 2021.

Flexibility is a common request from competitors, and we are setting up to do just that. First starts will be at midday - some fleets are looking for one start each day and other fleets are asking if they can have two starts each day midweek. The answer is: Yes, you can! - we are going to be flexible and provide the racing each fleet is aiming for.

Racing is organised by Burnham Week on behalf of Burnham Sailing Club, Royal Burnham Yacht Club and Royal Corinthian Yacht Club. Members from the three clubs working together on the Race Committee to provide great courses, with starts at Pile House and the BSC.

2021 National Championship - Tenby

Your committee are working hard with Tenby SC and others to put on a fantastic championships in Carmathern Bay at the beginning of August - by which time the majority of us will have had the jab and hopefully be forgetting about the pandemic!

The Notice of Race updated Wednesday 3^rd March 2021, Entry Form and Parent/Guardian Declaration Form are available. The NoR changes are to add 11.2 to call up RRS 40.1 and 15.6 to call up RRS 90.3e.

Entry list as of 12:30 Saturday 3rd April 2021 with 47 entries. Note - click on a sail number to see more information on a boat in a popup window. The National Championship history page has been updated to provide additional information.

For interest the results of all the National Championship held at Tenby (1984, 1987, 1990 & 1993) are now available.

Accommodation in Wales is booking up rapidly for the summer months, so here are some sources of accommodation for Tenby:-

1. www.westcoastcottages.wales This site is owned by Lou Commodore of TSC. If people contact her and state that they are sailing at the championships you will receive a 10% discount.

We are also looking at potential sites for motorhomes and camping. There are a number of sites that we have used in the past at New Hedges but these are a significant walk or cycle from the club and all up hill on the way back. We will provide an update as soon as we have one.

Class Boat Ready for Use

The class boat is now ready to be loaned out.

We need to look to the future of the class and the new blood that can be welcomed into the Osprey family. The details (application form and loan agreement form) on how to acquire the boat for a defined period are now available. The forms can be filled in electronically, but with Google Chrome browser when you save a completed form it does not save the information you have entered. This is not much good. So on Microsoft Windows systems, download document and open with either Adobe Acrobat Reader or Microsoft Edge browser.

The Osprey Class Committee are actively looking for the first crew to take her on and join us. If you know of a suitable crew then get in touch with your committee members or local Osprey representatives.

On change of ownership a new measurement certificate must be obtained. A new certificate can be obtained from the class secretary [This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.]. Please if possible send a copy of the existing certificate with your request for a new one.

To legally race each boat must have a valid certificate.

Please note that the responsibility for the Osprey Class Measurement Rules passed to the Osprey Class Association and the new Copyright holder from the RYA in November 2005. Additionally the responsibility for having new boats measured and existing boats re-measured, as necessary, passed to the Osprey Class Association.

Owners planning to make changes to their boats in light of rule changes are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure any changes they make, comply with the official Osprey Class Measurement Rules. So if you are planning work on your boat please check with the Technical Officer that what you have in mind will be within the Class Measurement Rules.

The copy of the Osprey Class Measurement Rules published by the Osprey Class Association and the Copyright Holder is now available. Older copies of the class measurement rules may be made available.
