2005-06 Wilkinson Sword Trophy

The 2005/2006 Wilkinson Sword Trophy will be presented at 2006 Nationals.

The series runs from the first open meeting after the 2005 UK National Championship to the end of the 2006 UK National Championship.

The official events for qualification are the Osprey Open Meetings at

  • Keilder - September 2005
  • Netley - September 2005
  • UK Inland Championship , Rutland - October 2005
  • Welsh & Midland Championship, Blithfield - April 2006
  • Scottish & Northern Championship, Hornsea - May 2006
  • FastSail Southern Meeting, Lymington - May 2006 (provided more than 6 Ospreys compete)
  • Conniston - May 2006
  • Poole - June 2006
  • plus 3 best individual results from the 2006 UK National Championship

Fleet Reps must send the webmaster the full race results sheet from each meeting.

To qualify, 50% of the total number of races sailed at the nominated open meetings plus the three best race results from the 2006 National Championship will be required.

Therefore as an example - if 40 races were scheduled in the events calendar and only 36 are sailed then you would count your best 18 results from any of the qualifying events plus your 3 best results from the 2006 National Championship.

Plus prizes will be awarded to the first 3 overall.

The crew of a competing boat shall comprise the either same helm or the same crew in all races to count. In effect this means that the helm can have more than one crew or vice-versa.

Following a question raised about Ogston being included in the results and not appearing in the above list of qualifying events, the results of Ogston have been removed. It was the intention of the committee to include the results of all designated Osprey Open meetings, but due to late addition of the Ogston event and the clear wording above about the events being included with no additional option to include late notification events the above decision was taken.

The provisional results following the Poole Open are now available, excluding the Ogston results,  via the two following links, PDF format :-
