UK Nationals History

Most Visited Nationals Venue - Mounts Bay, Cornwall, England

The first National Championship was held in 1958 on the 7th & 8th June at Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

EA Phillips of Saundersfoot SC, sailing Osprey sail number 8 (Stardust), was the 1st National Champion with the designer of the class, Ian Proctor 2nd overall.

  • Feeling the sting of the Southern Ocean
    The Volvo Ocean Race teams were feeling the full strength of the Southern Ocean on Thursday as they were pummelled by winds gusting as high as 50 knots and surfing down mountainous waves.
